Unfrozen: The 90-Day Reset for Men

A 90-day mental health training plan and guided journal for men who are running on empty, stuck in their heads or tired of carrying it all alone. Ten minutes a day is enough to start.

Buying it for someone?

“I thought you might find this useful.”

That line is the whole conversation. Put the book where he will find it, in his work bag or by the kettle, and leave the rest to him.

What he writes in it stays between him and the page.

Why I wrote it.

Four illustrated practices from the book: hand on chest, shake it off, rooted and sing it out

I wrote this book for the man I used to be. Foggy, isolated and coping well enough that nobody asked how I was really doing. If anyone did ask, my answer was always the same: fine.

What got me out was not a pep talk. It was simple, body-based practice: breathing, moving, shaking it off and paying attention to what my body had been holding for years. This book takes the gentlest parts of that work and turns them into a ninety-day plan you can follow at home, on your own. The deeper work happens in person, where I can keep you grounded while we go further.

It is a paperback because you fill it in. You write in it, score yourself, tick things off and look back at how far you have come.

Two pages a day.

A two-page day from the book, with the five daily steps: check in, read, practice, action and tonight's win

Every day follows the same five steps, so you always know what to do next.

Check in with how you slept and how you feel. Read a short page on what is going on and why. Practise one breathing, body or movement exercise, clearly illustrated. Take one small action out in the real world. Finish with tonight's win: a short prompt, different each day, to end on something that went right.

No experience needed. Every practice has clear steps and a drawing to follow, and every one finishes by settling you back down.

Six phases, ninety days.

The six phases of the 90 days, from Stop the Slide to Build Forward

Stop the Slide (days 1 to 15): steady your sleep, food and breathing.

Back in Your Body (days 16 to 30): notice what your body has been holding.

Let It Out (days 31 to 45): release what you have bottled up, safely.

Clear Your Head (days 46 to 60): step back from the noise in your head.

Reconnect (days 61 to 75): bring people back into your life.

Build Forward (days 76 to 90): decide where you are heading next.

A weekly review every seven days shows you what is changing.

More than a journal.

Also inside: a safety page, help when coping slips, 84 feeling words, Clear your head pages, 12 weekly reviews, 12 new things to try, meditation and yoga guides, the woo woo guide and a song for every day

A safety page for bad nights, with UK helplines.

When coping slips: the warning signs, and UK help for drink, drugs and gambling.

Questions

Plain answers about the book.

What is Unfrozen: The 90-Day Reset for Men?
It is a 90-day mental health training plan and guided journal for men, written by Richard Porter. Each day takes two pages: a check-in, a short read, one breathing, body or movement practice, one small action and a win to end the day. It is a 282-page paperback, published in the UK in 2026.
Who is it for?
Men who are running on empty, stuck in their heads, burnt out or tired of saying they are fine when they are not. You do not need to be in crisis, and you do not need any experience of breathwork, meditation or journalling.
How long does it take each day?
About ten minutes to start. Some practices take longer as the weeks go on, but every day fits on two pages.
What if I miss a day?
Pick up where you left off. Do not start again and do not give yourself a hard time. Missing a day does not count as failing.
Is it a replacement for therapy?
No. It is not therapy, and it does not replace help from your GP or a mental health professional. If you are in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E. For urgent mental health help, call NHS 111 and choose option 2, call Samaritans on 116 123 or text SHOUT to 85258.
Are the breathing practices safe?
They are gentle, and every one finishes by settling you down. Stop if you feel dizzy, tingly or panicky, and breathe normally. If you have a heart condition, epilepsy, high blood pressure or a serious mental health condition, check with your doctor first.
Is there a Kindle or ebook version?
No. It is a paperback on purpose, because you write in it every day.
Where can I buy it?
