Before you book
Not for everyone. Check this list before you book.
This work can bring on strong physical and emotional release. That is the point of it, and it is also why it is not right for everyone, every time. Read this properly, and if anything on it applies to you, message me first. I would rather have that conversation than have you find out mid-session.
The list
You should not take part if any of the following apply to you. It comes from my training provider's clinical guidance and I check it as part of every booking. The last two, fasting and asthma, have their own rules.
Neurological and cardiovascular
Epilepsy or a history of seizures, stroke (CVA) or TIA, detached retina, glaucoma, uncontrolled high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease (including a history of heart attack, arrhythmia, even mild, or heart failure), an aneurysm (personal or immediate family history), prescription blood thinners, or an implanted medical device such as a pacemaker or neurostimulator.
Psychiatric and mental health
Bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD, paranoia, psychotic episodes, depersonalisation or dissociative disorders, severe anxiety or PTSD without professional support in place, a psychiatric hospitalisation or emotional crisis within the last 10 years, active withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines or other substances, or low impulse control.
Chronic and autoimmune conditions
Addison's disease, chronic respiratory disease (COPD stage II or III), unstable diabetes (particularly Type 1), severe autoimmune or inflammatory disease (lupus, MS, rheumatoid arthritis, severe fibromyalgia), a terminal illness or chronic condition currently decompensating, or cancer under active treatment or at an advanced stage. If you are in remission, check with your doctor first.
Acute and musculoskeletal conditions
An acute viral or somatic illness, severe adrenal fatigue or CFS/ME, osteoporosis or an unhealed injury, a severe chronic pain condition affecting movement, or major surgery (especially abdominal, heart or neurological) in the last 6 months.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant, this practice is not suitable. Please wait until after your pregnancy.
Alcohol, drugs or psychedelics
Not within 24 hours of a session.
Fasting
Please do not attend within 24 hours of fasting. What counts as fasting is answered below.
Asthma
You are welcome to take part as long as you bring your inhaler.
Check with your GP or a medical professional first. I am not able to make that call for you. Whatever your situation, tell me about any medical treatment, procedure or condition that might affect your taking part, before you book.
Questions people ask
The three that come up most.
What about being on my period?
I only have mild arrhythmia. Does that really count?
What actually counts as fasting?
If anything here gives you pause, message me and we will talk it through.
This list sits alongside the conversation we have before your first session, not instead of it. When you book, you will be asked to confirm you have read it.
